Breakdance was launched in 2022 by Soflyy — the same team behind Oxygen Builder (one of the OG developer-focused WordPress builders). Breakdance was designed as the successor and modern evolution of the Oxygen concept: developer-grade output with a smoother user experience that less-technical team members can use too.

The product is in the same competitive space as Bricks Builder. Both target performance-focused use cases; Breakdance has slightly smoother UX, Bricks has slightly cleaner rendered output. The choice between them is often a matter of team preference rather than capability difference.
